Tips for Choosing the Right Boat for Your Boating Lifestyle

    Last updated 3 years ago

Owning your very own boat is the key to enjoying all of the fun and adventure that the waters around Maine have to offer. However, not all boats are made the same. Some boats are made for fishing, some are made for skiing and wakeboarding, and some are made for entertaining. This means that you need to find the right boat that matches your boating lifestyle. Here are a few tips from your friends at Yarmouth Boat Yard.

    Consider Your Favorite Sea-Faring Activities
First and foremost, think about what you will use your new boat for. For instance, if you like to explore small bays or troll the coastal flat in search of saltwater fish, you may be interested in a center console or multi-hull power boat. If you prefer the high-adrenaline adventure of waterskiing, wakeboarding, and tubing, bowriders and jet boats are good places to start. Talk to your boat dealer to find the boat that is right for your preferred activities.

Think About How Many Passengers You Would Like on Your Boat
The size of your new boat will determine the maximum number of passengers you can have your boat at one time. For a maximum of 10 passengers, look at cabin cruisers, deck boats, and pontoon boats. For 15 or more passengers, a large houseboat or motor yacht will be accommodating.

    Select the Right Propulsion System
Although not as seemingly important as the size or design of the boat, the propulsion system can also help you determine which boat is right for you. A jet engine, for example, is equipped with a water-pump to create propulsion. Sterndrive propulsion systems are comprised of an inboard engine connected to a steerable drive unit. You may even choose to go with sail power, which creates propulsion by capturing the force of the wind.

Looking Back at the History of Eastern Boats

    Last updated 3 years ago

Eastern Boats began in 1981 with the 18’ classic. Eastern’s first facility had just two small bays for assembly and glass shop space for two small hulls at a time. In 1992, Eastern Boats rented additional assembly space in a warehouse in Milton, NH. This facility became Eastern’s main operation after a devastating fire in the fall of 1993. Currently, Eastern Boats operates out of a 30,000+ square feet manufacturing space with separate buildings for fiberglass, assembly, and rigging operations.

Although Eastern Boats has become one of the largest boat manufacturers in the U.S., they continue the tradition of building quality sea vessels that will stand the test of time. If you are interested in learning more about Eastern Boats, visit Yarmouth Boat Yard. We are one of the most trusted boat dealers in Maine, and we offer a wide selection of new and used Eastern Boats. Call us today at (877) 401-3461 if you have any questions.
